[Action | Raithwall's Tomb | One Week Ago]
[So he really couldn't help himself. There had been some strange book on the table and Ceodore picked it up to see what it was. He thought it might be a gift from Ursula or something. Next thing he knew, there was a glaring light and then Outside Burning Sun. He's gotten used to the sun over the last few months he and Ursula spent governing the Skysea but this feels much hotter and intense.
He holds a hand up to shade his eyes so he can see and what he makes out is familiar. The tomb where Ursula arrived on Gaia. But why in the world is he here? Makes no sense at all. For a moment he suspects another bout with Memoria but that doesn't feel right either. He's alone, and definitely not experiencing a memory. Weird. These things weren't supposed to happen anymore. Not since they settled the Garland/Chaos problem months ago.
He reaches in his pocket for his skyphone to call Ursula first, then his parents. Mother will fret herself sick if she thinks he's gone missing. It's not working. Great. Off in some obscure part of the continent, phone is busted, not a moogle in sight.
Inside the tomb really isn't the best place to get out of the sun, but it's miserable cooking in one's own armor, so he turns to seek out the shelter of the derelict castle at the opposite end of the valley... only to find nothing more than an earthen corridor.]
Hey what gives?
[At this point though, shade is shelter and deserts are really hot. So Ceodore makes quickly for the narrow path into the rock. He follows it for a while until it opens up into what almost looks like a beach. Or it would if there weren't some sort of liquid sand spreading out to the horizon.]
Whoa...

Gaia? I have never heard of such a realm, let alone visited it. My village is located in the Wood, south of Dalmasca, and always has been. And I do not believe all humes appear alike; I would have remembered you, as well.
[Her brow furrows, trying to reconcile all this into something that makes sense.]
Some I can attribute to heat sickness, no doubt, and once we reach Rabanastre I can bring you to see a healer. But the rest....
You know Larsa as well? And you...how did you fall out of the village?!? The way is closed to humes, unless a viera guided you inside.

[He's got the good grace to look sheepish about more or less being an intruder, even if it wasn't his choice.]
Gaia is not my home world. People arrived from different places, including Ivalice. Places too. The Viera village was one of them and well... that's where I showed up. You were there, and Basch and Larsa.
[More people than just them too but it was too many to list.]
I just... don't understand why I'm here. I thought we stabilized the world so no one would leave anymore.
no subject
I do not understand your presence either. Nor does your tale sound familiar in any measure. Ivalice is full of many wonders, but never have I heard of those who have traveled from other worlds. Or that such existed.
[But she doesn't think he was lying, whatever the cause. It's a terrible lie, for one thing, and she can see that he has her trait of being unable to do so if his life depended on it. Fortunately, it doesn't.]
You were in Eruyt...had other humes not entered before you, namely Basch and his companions, it would seem incredible. Even then, they needed a viera to guide them. Simply arriving there ought not be possible.
...who was present?
[She's not sure she can bring herself to ask about Jote directly, but it's on her mind.]
no subject
[And he was inclined to oblige them, and was attempting to do so when he took an accidental quicker route out.]
I'm sorry...
[Truly, he is. If he could give more information, he would. He feels he owes her at least that much.]
no subject
Do not be. I am not certain it applies, as it is. The fate of Eruyt and those within remains unchanged in Ivalice, for good or ill.
no subject
[Because usually when change happens, it's bad stuff happening.
Still following along when Ceodore notices that weird book he found is still here and has started writing in itself. Basically recording the summary version of the fight and meeting Mjrn.]
What the...

[At that last part, Mjrn turns and realizes what he's found out.]
I have a grimoire as well, and it records my deeds. I believe all such that exist are alike in that.
no subject
[Although it does make him wonder how the book got into Gaia in the first place if it's something from this world...]
no subject
No, not at all. In fact, they are quite rare. In my travels, I have encountered but a handful of others with a grimoire. I know not why this is so.
[She pauses in front of the large floating crystal, taking out something from her travel bag.]
This is a teleport stone. One will always be needed to access a Gate Crystal, though once you have been to a destination, you shall always be able to reach it afterward.
no subject
[Ceodore, you really do say the strangest things. Stop confusing the nice lady.]
no subject
A...what?
no subject
[Isn't he the most helpful?]
I don't quite understand the technology.
no subject
I cannot even attempt an understanding. At least you are familiar, and so this may not disorient you badly.
[She activates the teleport stone and light flares up around them. When it dies down, they are near city gates, with chocobo stables on the opposite side of them. No one takes notice of them, as people arrive via Gate Crystal frequently. There are no other viera nearby at the moment, but moogles, seeq, bangaa...it's evident that humes are the most numerous, but not alone.]
This is Southgate. Ahead stretches the Giza Plains, currently in The Dry. Come, there is little reason to linger unless you wish to purchase a chocobo.

[Blinking, Ceodore takes a moment to look around and orient himself, at least a little. Everything here is huge, which conveniently casts a lot of shade. The different races aren't much of a surprise to him, at least. He's spent enough time at the Skysea that he's familiar with all of them.]
Oh, uh, sure. Don't think I need a chocobo.

We will first reach the East End, a place of many shops. If you need to replenish sundries, there is one easily available. If you do not have gil, he may consider what else you may have to trade.
no subject
[Ceodore privately takes inventory of what he has on him. Not too much gil. He wasn't in the habit of carrying too much on him just around the house. He's not got a lot in way of trade goods either, except maybe some of his accessories. Hopefully costs here are close to what they are at the Skysea.
Naturally he spots the moogling as they pass and immediately mistakes the race for something else.]
Was that a Hummingway?
no subject
[Mjrn's a little proud of herself for remembering that bit of trivia, having done her best to pay attention when first catching up outside the Wood. There was a lot for her to learn, but she likes to think she does her impromptu tutors justice.]
no subject
[Well, the Lunarian's moon anyway.]
Didn't know moogles were handy though. The ones on Gaia gave out skyphones and delivered mail. I figured they all did.
Cid would love to talk airship construction with them, I'd bet.
no subject
Moogles have many talents. Mechanics is but one, but what they are best known for; some deliver mail, I have no doubt.
[She points to a moogle standing next to a device.]
In Rabanastre, they also operate the moogling, a device which allows instantaneous transport throughout the city. We need not use it for now, that you may have a better sense of where all is located, but it is most useful.

[Ceodore gawks at everything he can see. The Skysea had a small town that catered to tourists. Baron is the largest city in his world, and yet its so small in comparison. It's a startling reality check for Ceodore.]
Is everything in Ivalice so huge?
no subject
The cities, you mean? Archades, the capital of the Archadian Empire, is larger...I believe. Others are smaller, yet still very active. It was a shock to me, as well. The Wood is not known for its dense population.

Were either your home? At least for a time? What were they like?

Alfitaria was even bigger. I had friends who lived there. They had this kind of transportation they called a shuttle train? [There's nothing like that at all on the Blue Planet.] They had a kickerbaul stadium, a huge library, fountains and parks and plazas... airship docks too. Everything ran on crystals, which was strange.

[Mjrn points to various shops as they come into view.]
That is Migelo's Sundries, the local source of healing potions and such. You will also find shops for weapons and armor -though you seem not to need them now- as well as magicks. There is a tavern at the far end, called the Sandsea. It has a hunt board, in which various petitions are posted. I often visit for that reason.
