haeresis[Waking up in a pass, alone, was not something Ramza expected. Well, not entirely alone: Boco was nearby, the ever-faithful chocobo he'd rescued from monsters in a forest, back what had felt like a lifetime ago. At the bird's feet was a journal. It was oddly reminiscient of Luso's, who had taken it everywhere with him, but when Ramza picked it up and flicked through the pages, only a few words were inscribed: Ramza Beoulve arrived to Ivalice, in the Mosphoran Highwaste. His eyes widened.]
Ivalice? What magick has spirited me here?
[He looked around, but still, he was sure this was nowhere familiar. Was this some unexplored corner of the kingdom he'd never ventured to? He couldn't even begin to guess the province. Then another thought struck him like a blow: if he was returned to Ivalice, where was Alma?
Concern for his sister overwhelmed all else. He put the book in his chocobo's saddlebags to consider later. As he did so, Boco suddenly pulled and strained at the reins, as if spooked. Ramza clutched tighter on the reins and tried to soothe the bird, who was not normally this skittish, having been used as a steed in many a battle...
Then Ramza heard a rumbling growl from behind him.
Towering in the narrow pass was a Tiamat, a great three-headed dragon. With his allies beside him Ramza would be confident he could handle it, but alone... He drew his blade and hoisted himself up onto his chocobo's saddle, digging in his heels to urge Boco into a run. And just in time: the three heads opened their mouths, breathing scorching blasts of flame across the earth where he'd been only seconds before.
Slowing his chocobo again, he turned to face his enemy, mind racing. Even on a chocobo, he wouldn't outrun a Tiamat for long. It would simply take flight and pursue him by wing. He needed to think of a means to deal with this foe, and fast.]
